Slanted
Slanted is a german quarterly magazine, specialised in typography and experimental graphic design. Its tenth issue is dedicated to blackletter typefaces and focuses particularly on contemporary experimentations.
One may have the feeling that blackletter types are the slavish translation of eponym calligraphic models invented in the Middel-Age or during the Renaissance. Indeed, there are relatively few typeface proposals where a genuine language is invented, sailing apart from calligraphy, just like roman types from the Renaissance did with their calligraphic inspiration. The romantism of XIXth century, along with the 1930s where rare eras where such attempts were performed.
In this Slanted issue you can find a spread dedicated to Adso, and a whole stack of other experimentations with different purposes and options. This profusion tends to arouse the idea that a new era of blackletter revival is dawning.
